Chevron to drill relief wells within 100 daysChevron Nigeria Ltd said it would take about 100 days to drill the two relief wells at the site of its wrecked KS Endeavor jack-up off the coast of Nigeria. The two rigs, one from Noble and another from Transocean, were reportedly on loan from ExxonMobil and Eni Corporation respectively and had been expected to begin drilling this week. The fire, which broke out on January 16, caused substantial damage to the jack-up KS Endeavour and lift-boat Mako. One hundred and fifty four workers were on board the rig and lift-boat at the time of the incident, but 152 were evacuated, while two were killed. THIS DAY, February 7, 2012 |
